Get Noticed With Online Video Marketing

One of the services we offer here at Peterborough Design is based around online video marketing. Essentially what we do for our clients is create a small web commercial about their business and then rank it on Google for their targeted keywords. We talk about our YouTube Video marketing strategy briefly on our services page already, but I figured it would be a good idea to write up a blog post about it to further explain why it works so effectively.

Let’s say for example that you’re a laywer here in Peterborough. What we’d do is create a video advertisement for you, post it on YouTube, and with some of our SEO magic we’d have it ranking in Google for your targeted keywords. So when someone visits Google and searches for something like lawyer peterborough, or lawyers in peterborough your video would show up. Getting the video to rank on page 1 for the keywords we’re targeting (and getting it to stay there) isn’t easy by any means, and does take some time. But the results are well worth it for most businesses. We actually created one for ourselves on YouTube, and it’s already performing really well for us. Here’s a link to our Peterborough Web Design video if you haven’t seen it already.

I think there’s two main reasons why this works so effectively…

Your Video Stands Out in the SERPs

The first reason is that because this is a YouTube video, it is going to really stand out in the search results. Google adds a thumbnail beside any video content, so it attracts a searchers attention more than a normal result would. You can see an example of it below with a video we did for a client of ours. The click through rate this video gets is going to be significantly higher than if it was a normal result without a thumbnail in this exact same position.

See the thumbnail beside our client's YouTube video? Even though it's ranked #2, it gets just as many (if not more) clicks than the top result.

So right away you’ve got a leg up on the competition.

Most People Respond Better To Video

The second reason why this strategy is so effective is because most people respond much better to video than they do from reading text. Engage did a study on the matter that shows us some very interesting statistics. Two of the more important ones that jump out at me are:

  • They found that on any given webpage, less than 30% of the text is actually read. But a video will hold a viewers attention for more than two minutes. So you have more time to get your message across and grab a viewers attention.
  • Their study also showed that close to 60% of people they surveyed would rather watch video before reading text.

So as you can see, you have a much better chance of engaging with a potential new customer through video than you would through text only. So video marketing can not only get new eyeballs on your business, but grab their attention and entice them to want to learn more about your product or services.
